SunDance Hologram

Inspired by reflective holographic effects used in advertising campaigns, the SunDance creative team decided to create our own hologram with the SunDance logo. Originally just intended as a proof of concept, the final product turned out so well that we decided to make it a fixture in our front lobby. While we have created holograms for clients who were impressed with ours, it primarily stands as a testament to the SunDance creative team's willingness to try new things and the leadership that sees the value in continued experimentation and innovation.

Kono Naturals Packaging

Kono Naturals is a collection of organic, sustainable Cannabidiol (CBD) products carefully designed to offer a safe and natural alternative to managing pain, mental health and promoting general wellness. 

Kona Naturals came to SunDance with the need for a small-run of custom packaging for their pharmaceutical CBD cannabidiol (marijuana based) isolate. SunDance worked closely with Kono Naturals to create a layout design and two different custom dies that would work perfectly for their 1g and 5g products. 

SunDance Spinning Business Cards

SunDance is the place for ideas. With our innovative crew of designers, printers and the team in the finishing department, we experiment a lot to show our customers all of the options available to them. During our rebrand last year, we used new and old techniques to produce a complex design concept where every side of the exposed cut of the card showed a different color. They were an immediate success and have started a lot of conversations about what's possible.

After getting such great feedback, we figured we could do better. We held an in-house design competition to see what we could come up with and the winner was the spinning logo design. The card is one piece, die cut and UV coated, then folded over a grommeted second piece with the color wheel found in the SunDance logo. The final effect is a free spinning color wheel that spins behind the cutout of the logo. The back side is SunDance orange with a hidden overprinted UV logo and tagline.

Orlando Science Center - Inspiring Innovation Gala Invitation Package

Orlando Science Center needed an eye-catching invitation package to elicit RSVPs for their upcoming Inspiring Innovation Gala. The Gala honored world-renowned researcher and conservationist Dr. Peter Pritchard for his achievements in turtle and tortoise conservation. The formal event included cocktails, live music, dinner, photo ops with giant Galapagos tortoises, and a silent auction of original paintings created by the turtle artists of the Chelonian Research Institute.

Factur Lobby Design

Factur is a member-driven fabrication laboratory, maker, coworking and event space in Downtown Orlando. SunDance and Factur have done a number of projects together including a revamp of the Factur location at 520 Virginia Dr, Orlando, FL 32803. We worked with Factur’s design team to complete an Environmental Interior Design concept that really works for the shared space which will serve as a creative home for people to work, learn and build a community rooted in science, art and technology for many years to come. It’s very similar to the way we feel about SunDance.

Florida Hospital Leadership Conference Displays

Florida Hospital enlisted SunDance to create one of a kind displays for their Leadership Meetings, unveiling them at the Summer Leadership Meeting held at The Hilton Orlando Resort.

The six foot tall, clear acrylic sheets were cut to size and held 1" thick digitally cut white acrylic letters on either side, giving the words the effect of floating in space when underlit. The backing pieces and 20" acrylic lettering were cut on SunDance's Zund Digital Cutter and the letters applied by hand for a precise fit to complete the illusion. Each sign was secured with a Silver Skyscraper stand making it easy to disassemble and store after the event.

YPO Orlando Chapter Kick-Off Event

YPO (formerly Young Presidents’ Organization) is a global network of young chief executives with approximately 24,000 members in more than 130 countries. To celebrate the launch of the YPO Orlando Chapter, the group held a kick-off event at Sea World's Discovery Cove, a sister park of SeaWorld Orlando and Aquatica Orlando.

Some packaging is food packaging is rather basic, such as a cereal box, while others that will be frozen or could get wet require other considerations, all the while staying safe for the end user and keeping your product looking consistent throughout.

What is Food and Drug Safe Packaging?

In the United States, food and drug packaging are regulated by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), under the Federal Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act. The regulations and laws cover the safety precautions required in the manufacturing process and approved additives, inks, coatings and materials suitable for direct and indirect contact with food, drugs or medical devices.

Direct Contact v. Indirect Contact

Direct Contact is seemingly easy to define in that it’s anything that has planned contact, such as a wrapper, a label under the wrapper, a box without a bag, a holding basket in the manufacturing process or anything else where food, drug or device will knowingly touch. Indirect is anywhere that might be close to the product. If you have a bagged product in a box, the box would need to be approved for indirect food contact. A tray liner at a fast food restaurant would need to be approved for indirect food contact because a sandwich might be placed on it, or it might be used for ketchup and french fries where the consumer might inadvertently ingest some of the tray liner or it’s printing ink.

What Needs To Be Food Safe?

The short answer is everything related to food, drugs or medical devices. Everything from the wrapper around your product, the box it comes in, the labels, any bottles, literature, coupons, instructions, etc. that will accompany your product in whole or in part.

A short digital run of your product can produce the proof of concepts you might need to make that first big sale. After that, we’ll be ready to mass produce them for you.
