Color Assistant automatically measured and adjusted color profiles on our machines, ensuring consistency and accuracy across every job. Leveraging this early form of AI reduced setup times, minimized waste, and cemented the color reliability that became one of our trademarks. We still use Color Assistant Pro, Heidelberg’s advanced system for intelligent ink control and color matching. The AI is constantly refining results, giving our customers sharper images, tighter tolerances, and superior print quality.

On our HP presses, the built-in AI and machine learning automatically optimizes calibration, detects and corrects defects in real time, maintains consistent print quality across long and variable runs, and supports our sustainable practices by reducing both waste and energy consumption.

Streamlined Prepress

Prepress can be where a lot of time is lost or found at a printing company. At SunDance our experienced prepress team employs Signa Station, which uses automation and AI logic to eliminate repetitive tasks, catch potential errors, and streamline work. By automating rule-based decisions our team can focus on creativity and problem-solving while making sure jobs move through the workflow quickly and accurately with fewer touchpoints.

Planned Workflow

We also use Heidelberg’s Prinect Performance Advisor Technology (PAT), essentially a digital consultant. Using AI and data from over 13,000 connected presses worldwide, PAT benchmarks our performance, identifies bottlenecks, and provides actionable recommendations to increase efficiency and reduce waste. We are often even able to use PAT to address inefficiencies before they impact production!

Another powerful layer of our automation is Enfocus Switch, a modular workflow tool that uses rules-based intelligence to route, process, and check files automatically. It’s basically a digital traffic controller; moving jobs between systems, flagging errors before they reach press, and reducing the need for manual intervention. Our operators are able to focus on innovation and quality while Switch makes sure jobs flow smoothly from order to output.
