At SunDance, Innovation is Listening

Innovative – it doesn’t have to mean complex. Innovation can be simple. As simple as listening. The simple step of listening to our clients instructs our next move. Is your packaging provider listening to you? “Our passion is solving our customer’s problems by listening to their vision while developing a solution within budget – that’s where innovation happens,” said Kandi Johansmeyer, Senior Vice President, Sales and Marketing at Sundance Packaging.

Listening is what makes conversation an artform and it’s where all the fun begins…finding where your packaging needs take us. Sometimes listening leads to a simple, square box, we love those! Especially when that package is artfully printed by our craftsmen with the creative look of your choice. Other times it leads to something innovative. Take for example the Stouffer’s ‘The Cookbook You Can Cook’ project, a cookbook made with paper that acts as a seasoned food wrap used to create chicken and fish meals without needing additional ingredients. “We don’t shy away from jobs, even if it’s complicated,” said Johansmeyer. Sundance drew upon their FDA-approved and food-safe printing expertise and set up a clean room to meet the challenge. The result was a Bronze Cannes Lions Award winning project at the 2017 Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity.

Our solutions-based perspective in folding carton manufacturing comes from listening to the needs of our clients, as Johansmeyer explains, “we’re expanding our focus on litho folding cartons and we also offer digital solutions for short runs.” Sundance Packaging offers turn-key packaging solutions with a wide variety of innovative looks and textures in-house, from raised UV to laminates or specialty coatings, there are many tactile, eye-catching finishes and techniques to help innovate your packaging.

In the end, sometimes listening itself can be the innovation, a fresh relationship where you are listened to and heard. From concept to delivery and every quality-controlled step along the way, let us start with listening to what you have to say.

Joanna Quentin

As a successful working artist, Joanna brings a unique perspective to every customer’s printing project.  With over twenty years in the fine art and wide format printing industry and plenty of hands-on experience, she understands that attention to detail, quality materials, and a dash of creativity is key in producing a piece that you are proud to stand behind.  Her commitment to customer satisfaction and willingness to explore “outside the box” solutions to difficult or unusual printing requests make her a welcome addition to the SunDance team.  When she is not creating commissioned equestrian artwork for her clients or art galleries she is often found jumping over fences on her Thoroughbred horse or relaxing at home with her husband and their four dogs, two cats, three turtles, and African Grey parrot.  She is also an accomplished violinist, avid amateur kayaker, and is extremely uncomfortable talking about herself in the third person.
